As well, leaders throughout the value chain will explore how the market is adapting, what the future looks like to them, and what your partners and customers need from you – the processor.
About Our Speakers
Ishkandar Ahmed is a senior executive with thirty years of professional experience with natural, organic and specialty foods. As the founding managing director of Jentash Marketing in 1985, he was a pioneer in the specialty food industry in western Canada specializing in importing and marketing natural and organic foods. Currently, Ishkandar is the CEO of Choices Markets. First opened in 1990, Choices has eleven locations, a production center, and an import-distribution division.
Ken Clark is General Manager of Meats where he and his Team are responsible for the procurement, merchandising and operations of Save On Foods Meat & Seafood business. He began his career in the retail grocery business back in 1971. He has worked, managed and led Teams in every area of the business and has had the good fortune of having the opportunity of working for and learning from a number of very good food organizations like Steinberg/Miracle Food Mart, Loeb/IGA, Loblaw’s/National Grocers, Ontario Pork Marketing Board, the Oshawa Group and IBP/Lakeside Packers.
For the past twenty-one years he has had the great pleasure to call Save On Foods home where he has been a member of the Senior Management Team.
Mike Donald is the CEO and Co-owner of a few companies, including Indigo Natural Products, a Canadian Natural Health food brokerage, most known for Amy’s, GT’s Kombucha, Skinny Pop, Frontier Spice, Anita’s, Happy Planet, Dr Bronner’s, Bremner’s, Bio-K+, Prana and Patience. Mike is also the CEO and Co-owner of Concord Sales Ltd., a food Importer and Distributor, most known for Berio Olive Oil, illy Coffee and Tetley Tea; and is Co-owner, co-Founder of Concord National, a Canadian conventional food brokerage, most known for HardBite, Mazola, Dole, Fresh Express, Melitta, Sun-Maid and SunRype.
Mike had also played in the resort business with Sonora Resort and Painted Boat Resort, and in the e-commerce business with HomeGrocer.com in Seattle in the late 90’s.
Braden Douglas is the founder of CREW Marketing Partners, a pioneering agency model that combines strategic marketing and creative for fast growth companies.
Braden’s strategic marketing planning and CREW’s creative execution has helped develop and elevate great food brands such as Hardbite Chips, One Degree Organic Foods, Silver Hills Bakery, and many more. Bianca Choy is part of Nielsen Vancouver office that has been servicing local clients in the West for the past 20 years. As Business Manager, Bianca is responsible for resolving and addressing Western clients’ business and data needs, through using different data sources in Nielsen, analyzing and turning data into insights for clients. Key clients include FMCG manufacturers and retailers, food and beverage processors, wholesalers/brokers, FMCG Associations and Government agencies. Nielsen’s key services are retail point of sale measurement (through co-operating with key retailers such as Walmart, Loblaws, Sobeys), consumer panels, innovation testing, surveys, measuring the ROI (return of investment) for promotions and advertising etc.
